Snowboards have been designed and built in Japan as early as 1971, when the first MOSS snowboard was prototyped.
More than 50 different Japanese snowboard brands have designed over 600 models.
These brands have different specialities, from producing unique Japanese Snowsurfing boards, to custom locally made boards, to boards focused on freestyle and ground tricks (グラトリ), to alpine racing boards.
