At Snowline, accessible from snowline.jp and through the Snowline app for iOS and Android, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors and users. This Privacy Policy document contains types of information that is collected and recorded by Snowline and how we use it.
If you have additional questions or require more information about our Privacy Policy, do not hesitate to contact us at snowline-jp@googlegroups.com.
This Privacy Policy applies only to our online activities and is valid for visitors to our website and users of our app with regards to the information that they shared and/or collect in Snowline. This policy is not applicable to any information collected offline or via channels other than this website and the Snowline app. Our Privacy Policy was created with the help of the TermsFeed Free Privacy Policy Generator.
By using our website or app, you hereby consent to our Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.
The personal information that you are asked to provide, and the reasons why you are asked to provide it, will be made clear to you at the point we ask you to provide your personal information.
If you contact us directly, we may receive additional information about you such as your name, email address, phone number, the contents of the message and/or attachments you may send us, and any other information you may choose to provide.
When you register for an Account, we may ask for your contact information, including items such as name, company name, address, email address, and telephone number.
The Snowline app for iOS and Android tracks your days on the mountain and lets you share where you are with your friends. It uses the same account as the website. This section describes the information the app collects and how it is used.
You can use the app without an account. Days you track are then kept only on your phone. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address and your name, and from Google your profile picture. Your email address is never shown to other users. Other users see only the username and display name you choose.
While you are tracking a day, the app records your location about once a second, including your altitude, speed and direction, and keeps recording when the app is in the background or the screen is off. It uses your location to find the resort you are at and to work out your runs, lifts, speed and vertical. When you are not tracking, the app uses your location only while it is open, to show where you are on the map and to share it with friends if you have chosen to.
When you are signed in, the days you track are uploaded to our servers so that they are kept safely and you can see them on your other devices. They are private to you unless you choose to share a day with someone.
If you turn on "Record motion sensors", the app also records the motion sensors of your phone (accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer and orientation) while you are tracking, to measure your turns. These readings are uploaded only if you also turn on "Upload sensor data", and are never shown to anyone else.
You can add friends by their username, and choose to share your live location with each friend for a time you choose. While you are sharing, the app sends your position, speed, direction and the run or lift you are on every few seconds. We keep only your latest position, show it only to the friends you are sharing with, and delete it six hours after its last update.
The app checks you in when you arrive at a resort and when you ride a run or lift, so that it can count your days at each resort. Friends you are sharing your location with can see that you are at the same resort that day. Notes you pin to a place on the mountain are shown with your display name to the people you choose: only you, your friends, or everyone, including visitors to the website.
To show maps, the app downloads map images, terrain and resort information from Snowline and from map providers, including Apple Maps. These providers receive your IP address and the area of the map being shown.
The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used, such as which screens are opened and which features are used, and Firebase Crashlytics to receive reports when the app crashes. These reports include your device model, operating system version, app version, country and the state of the app at the time, and are sent to and stored by Google. They are identified by a random identifier for the app on your phone, not by your Snowline account, email address, name or location. The app does not use your phone's advertising identifier. We use this information only to fix problems and improve the app.
The app does not show advertising, and we do not share your information with advertisers. We do not sell your information. Your account and the days you upload are stored with our hosting providers (Vercel, MongoDB Atlas and Wasabi) only to run Snowline. Deleting a day in the app also deletes it from our servers. To delete your account and all of its data, email us at snowline-jp@googlegroups.com from the email address of your account and we will remove it.
